Tour of “O Centro do Cidade”

Today we got a tour of the old center of the city, which is pretty much not used at all anymore. It rained for most of the tour, but it was really cool to see how the city has been changing, and how there was basically zero urban planning that went into it (i.e. there is no drainage system whatsoever. Smart for a city that has at least 4 months of straight rain.) Parts of the city look completely European, except totally worn-down, and then others couldn’t be more…ugly different. Our tour ended at the Mercado Municipal, which is basically a huge indoor market. I ate a Mortadella sandwich, which is basically glorified bologna, and discovered that cashews actually come from a fruit. Go figure.
